Breweries Near GABF: Colorado Springs’ Beer

Breweries Near GABF: Our 2nd Mini-Series

In preparation for the Great American Beer Festival (GABF), it’s time to offer some quick resources for GABF attendees and Colorado locals to visit breweries within an hour of Denver and see some scenic beauty along the way.  This series highlights drives from our website, encouraging beer enthusiasts to enjoy brewery tours beyond GABF.  Today’s post focuses on three tours of Colorado Springs area breweries. Get out there and enjoy!

Episode 5: Colorado Springs’ Craft Beer Scene

Like Fort Collins, Boulder, and Denver, Colorado Springs has a lot of breweries to offer and it needs multiple visits to soak in all the fine beers. Combined with the stunning scenery of Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and dozens of local trails into the foothills, the Colorado Springs area deserves extensive exploration over a couple days or a long weekend.

We offer three drives, two of which overlap around one of our favorite Colorado breweries, Trinity. The North Drive of Colorado Springs starts there and works its way north on I25, ending in Monument, a lovely Springs suburb. Or after enjoying Trinity and Garden of the Gods, the Pikes Peak In View drive, has you dine on delicious BBQ, and then meet the friendly town of Woodland Park with tasty pints at the German-focused BierWerks.

If you’re exploring the downtown area of Colorado Springs, the Central Drive makes visits to a fine diversity of atmospheres, styles and approaches to beer.  This tour also connects easily to Cheyenne Mountain State Park and the Cheyenne Canon Scenic Drive. A hike in this area before or after visiting the breweries provides a perfect Rocky Mountain experience.

Though Colorado Springs is often overlooked by beer enthusiasts, it should receive higher recognition for its great beer.  The Napa Valley of Beer extends from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs; don’t miss a single location.
